School Attire

Attire is a critical part of any dance environment.  Proper shoes and clothes insure proper technique and learning.  It is your responsibilty to be properly prepared for class.

Items never allowed in the dance studio:

  • Jeans
  • Street shoes
  • Jewelry that is overly loose

Jazz, Hip Hop, and Tap

All students should where proper shoes (jazz shoes, hip hop shoes, or tap shoes) and be wearing attire suitable for a dance class.  This can include sweats (not too long), leotards, leotard shorts or other attire.

Ballet Classes (includes PreBallet/Tap)

For all Ballet Classes: Ballet sweaters or form fitting sweaters of solid that match the student’s leotard are acceptable. Leg warmers may be worn during plies. Ballet skirts for levels 1-6 may be worn for center exercises. Pink leather or canvas ballet shoes are required; however, canvas ballet shoes cannot be used on stage. A split sole is preferred for upper levels (2-6). Hair needs to be pulled securely into a bun – no ponytails or loose hair. Students entering class unprepared will be asked to return when they are properly attired and have acceptable hair. If they miss their first exercises, they may be asked to observe class rather than participate.

Male Attire: White or black T-shirt or form fitting sweater and black sweats or jazz pants and black leather shoes.

Female Attire: Attire is based on class.

  • Creative Movement – Pink or black leotard with pink tights and pink leathers ballet shoes.
  • Pre-Ballet/Tap – Pink or black leotard with pink tights, pink leather ballet shoes and black tap shoes.
  • Ballet 1 – Pink leotard, tights and leather ballet shoes
  • Ballet 2 – Black leotard, pink tights and shoes
  • Ballet 3 – Dark blue leotard, pink tights and shoes
  • Ballet 4 – Burgundy leotard, pink tights and shoes
  • Ballet 5 – Black leotard, pink tights and shoes
  • Ballet 6 – Black, plum or brown leotard, pink tights and shoes
